We are one of the first labs that derived authentic pluripotent embryonic stem (ES) cells from rats.

Using embryonic stem cell-based technology, we produced the world’s first knockout rats, which ranked among Science magazine’s “Top 10 Breakthroughs of 2010. Since then, we have succeeded in generating knock-in rats as well as conditional and inducible rats.

These animals allow scientists to model and study a wide range of genetic diseases that also occur in humans.
